What Is YK-11?
YK-11 acts as a potent Myostatin inhibitor in the body, allowing for muscular development far exceeding one’s genetic potential.
How it works is it attaches itself to the androgen receptor, and induces the muscle cells to produce more Follistatin, consequently inhibiting Myostatin in the body, which then results in more overall muscle growth.
Follistatin And Myostatin
If you have never heard of Follistatin, it is a Myostatin inhibitor that has been proposed as the end all be all of muscle growth.
Myostatin acts as a regulator of skeletal muscle mass, limiting how much muscle the body can grow.
Interestingly enough, genetically gifted bodybuilders have been found to have very low levels of Myostatin in their bodies, which we can surmise is the reason why they have such a remarkable ability to pack on muscle.
What Is A Myostatin Inhibitor?
As Myostatin essentially keeps your body from growing too much muscle, a Myostatin Inhibitor would be a compound that could inhibit how much Myostatin is in your body, thereby allowing you to far surpass your previous muscle-building threshold.
This is all theoretical of course, but the science is sound, and there is no denying the coincidence that the most muscular individuals seem to have the least Myostatin in their bodies.
Consequently, it seems that if YK-11 can successfully increase Follistatin to such a great degree like it is supposed to, then YK-11 could actually produce significant gains in lean muscle mass that would otherwise be unattainable.
What Benefits Can Be Expected From YK-11
• Lean size gains without water retention
• Increase in muscular size and strength
• Muscle hardening
• Increase in Follistatin levels
• Inhibition of Myostatin levels
• No anabolic steroid side effects
• Possibly allow you to far surpass your body’s genetics in regards to accrual of muscle mass
• Produces muscle via a totally different mechanism than SARMs, Steroids, or HGH, so it can theoretically be added to any cycle for additional muscle growth and synergy
• Increased muscular fullness and better pumps
How Does YK-11 Compare To Other SARMs?
YK-11 selectively binds to the androgen receptors in muscle and bone in a similar way to SARMs, which is most likely why some assert that it is a SARM.
After binding to the androgen receptors, it exerts tissue selective anabolic activity that promotes lean mass gains.
It seems to produce lean, dry gains, as opposed to LGD-4033 and RAD-140, which are more “wet” and have a higher propensity for resulting in water retention.
However, YK-11’s chemical structure differs greatly from that of SARMs, and in fact, resembles the chemical structure of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) very closely.
It would be more correct to say YK-11 is a steroid or a derivative of one then to say it is a SARM.
Unfortunately, it is pretty unclear exactly what it is, as it is very new on the scene, and most conclusions being drawn about this compound are just based on personal opinion rather than true science.
One thing is for sure though (based on science don’t worry) YK-11’s unique effect on Follistatin production is completely unlike any SARM, and it is proposed to increase Follistatin levels several times higher than even most traditional Anabolic Steroids that convert to DHT.
YK-11 isn’t necessarily better or worse than any SARMs, but this is because it operates via a completely separate mechanism of inducing muscle growth.
Because YK-11 potentiates muscle growth via a completely separate pathway, it would be more productive to figure out what would work best alongside it, rather than if it’s stronger or weaker than other Anabolics that cause muscle growth in a totally different manner.
It’s like comparing apples to oranges with YK-11, because nothing is even remotely in the same category as it currently, you can’t compare it to other muscle building agents.
YK-11 Side Effects
YK-11 does have a methyl ester, and as you may or may not know with methylated compounds, they can be liver toxic.
However, I can personally attest to YK-11 being very mild in regards to liver toxicity, as I’ve seen over a handful of blood work lab results done on YK-11 users, with minimal difference whatsoever in their liver enzymes.
Any elevation was negligible at most, and posed no cause for concern.
Obviously the possibility of liver toxicity should still be considered though if research is undertaken.
Other than that, as YK-11 is so new and has no thorough testing other than anecdotal logs of bro-scientists who can only surmise what this stuff will and won’t do, there are no other definitive side effects that can be listed out.
How To Dose YK-11
I have some experience with YK-11, although limited, and I found that 10mg was sufficient to produce the benefits that I was expecting from this compound.
However, I did not play around with the dose, or increase it from that point to see if I could achieve a greater effect without any side effects.
The level of diminishing returns with YK-11 (which I would love to tell you if I knew it) is essentially undetermined.
There is no set in stone dosing protocol for YK-11, and in fact, it is literally through anecdotal research where it will be determined what the “best” dose is.
You will have to be your own judge, although, 10mg seems to be a very good starting point for most researchers, and my personal experience corresponded with this too.
I have friends who have gone as high as 30mg per day with no negative side effects though, and they definitely made substantial gains in lean muscle mass.
The average being around 10-15 pounds with no apparent increase in their body fat %.
The half-life of Yk-11 is unknown, so I split all my dosages up as much as I could (I did two 5mg doses per day, once in the morning, once at night).
Nobody knows how long YK-11 stays in the blood stream, so keeping levels elevated in the blood as consistently as possible via a multiple dosing strategy spread throughout each day would be ideal.
Does YK-11 Require A PCT?
Yes.
It seems to cause slight suppression, so the approach you take to PCT should be the same you would take towards traditional steroid cycles, or harsher SARM cycles.
