テストステロンエナンセートは、アンドロゲンであるテストステロンの遅効性注射剤です。テストステロンは男性の主要な同化ホルモンであり、筋肉量と筋力の大幅な増加を促進することから、アスリートに非常に好まれています。
エストロゲン様作用の副作用：
テストステロンエナンセートは体内で容易にエストラジオール（エストロゲン）に芳香族化されます。このテストステロンの代謝は、アロマターゼ（エストロゲン合成酵素）によって行われます。エストロゲンレベルの上昇は、水分保持の増加、体脂肪の増加、女性化乳房などの副作用を引き起こす可能性が
あります。テストステロンエナンセートは、中程度のエストロゲン様作用を持つステロイドと考えられています。エストロゲン様作用の副作用を防ぐには、抗エストロゲン剤が必要となる場合があります。エストロゲンの合成を阻害することで、より効率的にエストロゲンを抑制できるアロマターゼ阻害剤を使用することもできます。
エストロゲンの副作用は用量依存的に発生し、高用量（通常の治療レベルを超える）では抗エストロゲン薬またはアロマターゼ阻害剤の併用が必要になる可能性が高くなります。
アンドロゲンによる副作用：
テストステロンは主要な男性アンドロゲンであり、二次性徴の維持を担っています。テストステロン値の上昇は、脂性肌、ニキビ、体毛や顔の毛の増加といったアンドロゲンによる副作用を引き起こす可能性があります。
また、アナボリックステロイドやアンドロゲンステロイドは、男性型脱毛症を悪化させる可能性があります。
女性の場合、アナボリックステロイド／アンドロゲンステロイド、特にテストステロンのような強力なアンドロゲンを含むステロイドには、男性化作用の可能性があることに注意が必要です。具体的には、声の低音化、月経不順、肌の質感の変化、ひげの成長、クリトリスの肥大などが起こる可能性があります。
肝毒性の副作用：
テストステロンエナント酸エステルには肝毒性作用がないため、肝毒性が生じる可能性は低いと考えられます。
心血管系の副作用：
アナボリックステロイド／アンドロゲンステロイドは血清コレステロールに有害な影響を及ぼす可能性があります。具体的には、HDL（善玉）コレステロール値を低下させ、LDL（悪玉）コレステロール値を上昇させる傾向があり、HDLとLDLのバランスが動脈硬化のリスクを高める方向に変化する可能性があります。
The relative impact of an anabolic/androgenic steroid on serum lipids is dependant on the dose, route of administration (oral vs. injectable), type of steroid (aromatizable or non-aromatizable), and level of resistance to hepatic metabolism. Anabolic/androgenic steroids may also adversely affect blood pressure and triglycerides, reduce endothelial relaxation, and support left ventricular hypertrophy, all potentially increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and myocardial infarction.
Testosterone Enanthate tends to have a much less dramatic impact on cardiovascular risk factors than synthetic steroids. The aromatization of testosterone to estradiol also helps to mitigate the negative effects of androgens on serum lipids.
Due to the positive influence of estrogen on serum lipids, aromatase inhibitors are preferred for those concerned with cardiovascular health, as they offer a partial estrogenic effect in the liver.
To help reduce cardiovascular strain, it is advised to maintain an active cardiovascular exercise program and minimize the intake of saturated fats, cholesterol, and simple carbohydrates at all times during active steroid administration. Supplementing with fish oils and a natural cholesterol/antioxidant formula is also recommended.
Testosterone Suppression
All anabolic/androgenic steroids are expected to suppress endogenous testosterone production. Testosterone is the primary male androgen, and offers strong negative feedback on endogenous testosterone production.
Testosterone-based drugs will, likewise, have a strong effect on the hypothalamic regulation of natural steroid hormones. Without the intervention of testosterone-stimulating substances, testosterone levels should return to normal within 1-4 months of drug secession.
Note that prolonged hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism can develop secondary to steroid abuse, necessitating medical intervention.
Administration for Men
To treat androgen insufficiency, the recommended dosage is 50 – 400 mg of Testen (Testosterone enanthate) every 2 to 4 weeks.
Although active in the body for a longer time, Testen (testosterone enanthate) is usually injected on a weekly basis for muscle-building purposes. The usual dosage for physique- or performance- enhancing purposes is in the range of 200 – 600 mg per week, taken in cycles 6 to 12 weeks in length. This level is sufficient for most users to notice exceptional gains in muscle size and strength.
testosterone enanthate is usually incorporated into bulking phases of training, when added water retention will be of little consequence, the user more concerned with raw mass than definition.
