Papaverine HCL Injection Information:
Papaverine HCl Injection (Generic name: Papaverine hydrochloride injection, USP) is a vasodilator that works by relaxing smooth muscles in the blood vessels to help them dilate. It lowers blood pressure and allows blood to flow more easily through the veins and arteries.
Papaverine injection is used to treat variety of conditions that cause spasm of smooth muscle, including chest pain, circulation problems, disorder of stomach, gallbladder, and heart attack. Papaverine injection is also used to improve erections in some men with erectile dysfunction (or impotence). However, it should not be used as a sexual aid in men who not have an erectile dysfunction.
Papaverine HCL Injection Side Effects:
The most common Papaverine injection side effects include constipation, diarrhea, headache, high blood pressure, nausea, stomach discomfort, sweating, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as behaviour or mood changes, confusion, depression, fast heartbeat, fainting, fever, jaundice, muscle weakness, numbness, vision changes, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Papaverine HCL Injection Precautions:
Do NOT use Papaverine injection if you are allergic to Papaverine hydrochloride or any of the ingredients in Papaverine medication. Before using Papaverine injection, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as bleeding disorder, glaucoma, heart disease, liver or kidney problems, and Parkinson’s disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Papaverine HCl, especially of: certain antihistamines, antiseizures, anxiety medicines, muscle relaxants, narcotics, and psychiatric medicines.
This medicine usually begins to work in about 10 minutes. You should attempt intercourse within 2 hours after injecting the medicine.
Dosing
The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor’s orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of this medicine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.
The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.

For the treatment of erectile dysfunction:
Adults—30 to 60 milligrams (mg) injected very slowly into the area of your penis as directed by your doctor. Allow one or two minutes to completely inject the dose. Do not inject more than one dose in a day. Also, do not use this medicine more than two days in a row or more than three times a week.
Storage
Store any remaining medication in a sealed container STERILE SERUM VIAL (10ml) at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. Do not store expired or unwanted medication.
